Tour Highlights

Beautiful, bold, and vivid, Argentina is a an ideal destination at this time of year, when it is summertime in the southern hemisphere, and the temperatures are warm with flowers blooming everywhere. The Argentinian people are friendly and welcoming, with a passion for life that is contagious for those who visit.
We begin and end our adventure with a total of 6 nights in one of the world’s most stylish cities, Buenos Aires - a city full of European sophistication with wide boulevards, old mansions, French style architecture, hundreds of theatres, parks, restaurants, cafes, and museums. There are small charming neighborhoods like San Telmo, with its street flea market and La Boca - an artist’s colony with brightly painted houses and dramatic street performers.

The remaining 10 nights of our holiday will be at the beach resort of Mar Del Plata, where the climate is oceanic warm and mild all year round. This charming Argentine beach town is off the main tourist route - ideal for a relaxed and casual holiday.

We will stay 10 nights at the 4-star NH Gran Hotel Provincial in Mar del Plata, part of an iconic beachfront complex. The hotel enjoys a city centre location, and from here it is easy to reach the long white sand beaches, pedestrian shopping streets and popular casino. Facilities at the hotel include two heated indoor pools, a spa with sauna and massage services, and a gym. The hotel was originally built in 1946 by the celebrated architect Alejandro Bustillo and the elegantly decorated guestrooms maintain much of the original character. Tentative Itinerary

We depart for Buenos Aires, via Miami.
We arrive in Buenos Aires. Afternoon at leisure. This evening is our Welcome Dinner.
Our city sightseeing tour will take in some of the small neighbourhoods (each with its own distinct flavour) that make Buenos Aires such a lively and fascinating city. We will also see the Presidential Palace (former HQ for Eva Peron – still a popular cult figure), the Plaza de Mayo, Colon Opera House and Evita’s mausoleum.

Tango is definitely one of the main attractions of Buenos Aires and no visit here is complete without a visit to a tanguería.  Tonight we will enjoy a dinner and a tango show with live music, professional dancers and singers!
Today we visit a typical estancia (ranch) on the pampas. Here the cowboys (gauchos) display their horsemanship and will entertain us with traditional music and dancing. We will enjoy a farm-style Argentinian barbecue for lunch.
A free day. Your Tour Manager will be available with suggestions.
We depart by coach for Mar Del Plata. The afternoon will be at leisure to discover this classic seaside town.
Our guided tour of Mar Del Plata shows us traditional areas with homes built from local stone with lovely gardens. We’ll visit the fishing port with its picturesque fishing boats and a sea lion colony. We also see the forest of Peralta Ramos, St. Martin Park, Cape Corrientes and the beaches that stretch from the port to the lighthouse. Our guide will orient us with places you might like to visit on your own such as museums, art galleries and shopping streets. The climate here is ideal for developing wines with a marked ocean influence, so this afternoon we visit a local winery to learn about the process of wine-making, visit the vineyards and of course, have a tasting!
We take an excursion into the countryside with its rolling hills dotted by small farms and ranches. We will visit the museum of José Hernández, the author of Martín Fierro - one of the most important books in Argentinian literature. We will also pass by a typical “pulpería”, which serves as grocery store, bar and gathering place for the gauchos.

We continue to Balcarce, passing by some of the most fertile land in Argentinam and arrive at the hometown of the five-time Formula 1 champion Manuel Fangio, whose record was only beaten in the early 2000s.  After lunch at Estancia Fangio ranch, we visit the JM Fangio Museum exhibiting trophies, cars and documents that illustrate his career and the auto industry in Argentina.
Today we discover two of the most popular beach destinations on the Atlantic coast, starting with Villa Gesell. In the 1930’s, Carlos Gesell acquired these coastal lands considered “useless” as they were covered by sand dunes. He ventured to fix the sand by intensive forestation to supply his furniture company. This was the starting point of the city and today it is regarded as one of the most popular summer getaways in the region. We will see the city centre, the beaches, the lighthouse and more!

Next we visit the picturesque and glamorous beach resort of Pinamar.  The name comes from the many pine trees planted in the 1940s to fix the sand dunes and begin the urbanization of the area. Pinamar is also known for its unique architecture, iconic houses and stories treasured amongst the sand dunes.
After all of the sightseeing in the past couple days, some days at leisure will be most welcome to enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to offer suggestions.
We say goodbye to Mar Del Plata and make our way back to Buenos Aires where the remainder of the day will be at leisure.
A day at leisure in the city capital for some last-minute shopping, museum exploring or sightseeing. This evening is our Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant famous for its Argentinian Barbeque.
We transfer in the late afternoon to the airport for our flight home.
Early morning arrival back in Canada.
