Blue Danube River Cruise

Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary
• First Class Riverboat Cruise
• 3 nights with touring in Prague
• Many shore excursions included!
We begin this delightful holiday with 3 nights in the “Golden City” of Prague. The Czech capital is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, with soaring cathedrals and lavish palaces. It is also known for its lively squares which give the city a festive air.

After Prague we embark on a 7-night deluxe riverboat cruise to some of the most interesting cities and sites along the storied Danube River. As we pass through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary we are taking a journey through history, as many of Europe’s greatest cities sit on the shores of the Danube.

Our riverboat, the Amadeus Silver III is a modern ship specially built for cruising European rivers, combining the luxuries of a 5-star hotel with innovative design and First Class service.
You will enjoy superb dining throughout the cruise with special theme dinners. As a bonus, quality wines from Europe’s most famous wine regions are included with every dinner. The nightly entertainment features folkloric shows and informative lectures on our destinations.
The Sun Deck invites you to relax outdoors, while offering breathtaking views of the passing river landscapes. There is also Café Vienna, which offers a variety of authentic Viennese coffee-time specialties. To round out your experience, many shore excursions are included and expertly conducted by English speaking guides.

Cabins on Haydn Deck have a panoramic window that  cannot be opened. Cabins on the Strauss and Mozart Decks are larger, with panoramic windows that can be opened.

* Those joining any of our tours to Europe must be able to walk fairly long distances and climb stairs easily.

Our city tour reveals why Prague is one of Europe’s most popular cities. During our tour we’ll visit the 1,000 year old Prague Castle and St. Vitus before walking over the Charles Bridge to the Old Market Square. Afternoon at leisure to mix with the locals at Wenceslas Square or enjoy an outdoor café. This evening we enjoy a Folklore Dinner Show.
At leisure to stroll along the Vlatava River, relax at an outdoor café, or shop for local handicrafts.
We depart Prague and stop in Pilzen, best known for producing Pilsner beer - a pale gold lager. After some free time to explore this lovely town we enjoy a scenic drive through pastoral countryside to Passau, where we embark our luxurious cruise ship and enjoy our first delicious dinner on board.
Regensburg is one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. Among its architectural treasures are churches, monasteries, the town hall, and one of Europe’s oldest bridges that has spanned the Danube since the 12th century. During our walk we will sense the former power and wealth of this city, which once controlled the trade route to the Orient. Later we travel by coach to Weltenburg, with a brief stop at the “Hall of Liberation” - a classical marble monument, fashioned after the Parthenon in Athens, perched on a mountain high above the Danube. Then we’ll board an excursion boat which will take us to the Benedictine Abbey of Weltenburg. Founded around 620 AD, it is the oldest monastery in Bavaria. After a tour of the abbey church we’ll taste the famous dark beer of Weltenburg, which is brewed here in the oldest monastery brewery in the world.
A coach ride will take us to Salzburg - the “City of Music”. The old town has world-famous Baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centers north of the Alps (thus it is a designated UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site). During our guided tour through the old town we will see the birthplace of Mozart, the ‘Getreidegasse‘ (main shopping street) , the gorgeous cathedral and the place where the Salzburg festival is held. Later we’ll visit the picturesque village of Mondsee, best known as the film location of the movie “The Sound of Music”.
Today we will visit Melk Abby - one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. This Baroque jewel is filled with beautiful frescoes and priceless manuscripts. In the afternoon we will be offered tours of various towns in the Wachau River Valley.
On our guided city tour we’ll drive along the famous Ringstrasse, passing several magnificent buildings like the stunning opera house, the Parliament, the Court Theatre, and Vienna’s imposing city hall. Then we’ll enjoy a guided walk through the city center and see the famous Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Kohl market and iconic St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
The gorgeous old town of Bratislava has maintained its Gothic-Baroque style. We will see the Grassalkovich Palace and continue up the hill for a stunning, panoramic view of the city and surrounding areas. Afterwards, we will have a guided walking tour through the restored old town and see the Primatial Palace, St. Martin’s Cathedral - a former coronation cathedral for Hungarian kings, the Academia Istropolitana - city’s oldest university dating back to the 15th century, the main square with the old City Hall, the Opera House and Maximilian Fountain.
Budapest, the “Queen of the Danube”, is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The Danube flows through the heart of the city, dividing it into two parts: Buda and Pest. Our guided tour takes us past the Great Market Hall with its outstanding gourmet shops and stalls; the Baroque buildings of the Hungarian State Opera; the Parliament building; Hero’s Square; St. Matthew’s Church; and Fisherman’s Bastion.
