Christmas and New Year's in Scottsdale, Arizona

Includes a 2-day excursion to the Grand Canyon & Sedona

Tour Highlights

On this special Holiday Season tour we will enjoy the sunshine in Scottsdale, Arizona's foremost resort town.
Scottsdale (also known as the Valley of the Sun) is one of North America's most popular vacation areas with spectacular desert scenery, lakes, canyons, mountains and 4000 hours of sunshine annually.

Our accommodation will be at the First Class Hilton Garden Inn, located right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, within one block of Old Town’s lively pedestrian area with over 90 art galleries, boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants. It is also close to the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall and the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, which features a wide array of live musical entertainment. You can hop on the free Old Town Trolly, which runs constant loops around Old Town, just one block from the hotel.

The hotel features a full-service restaurant, lounge, bar, mini-mart, state of the art exercise facility, oversized outdoor pool, sundeck and whirlpool. The guestrooms all have a microwave, fridge and coffee maker.

For Christmas we will enjoy a special Christmas Eve Dinner and a Christmas Day brunch at the Hilton. There will also be a New Years Eve dinner-show and a New Year's Day BBQ. A number of other special meals and some fantastic excursions (including a 2-day excursion to the Grand Canyon and Sedona) are also included.

Tentative Itinerary

A tour of Phoenix and Scottsdale. The area is called the Valley of the Sun because it receives over 4,000 hours of sunshine annually. On our tour we see the man-made lake at Tempe, the pleasant downtown area, the beautiful campus of Arizona State University, Camelback Mountain and more. We finish in Old Town Scottsdale for a walk around the pedestrian streets with art galleries, boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants.
An overnight excursion to the Grand Canyon, one of the Great Natural Wonders of the World. We will have plenty of time to wander along the brink of the chasm and enjoy the various vantage points. On the way there we will visit the artists’ colony, see the incredible desert rock formations at Sedona and beautiful Oak Creek Canyon.
A day of spectacular scenery as we enjoy an old-fashioned paddleboat ride on Canyon Lake. We will see the interesting rock formations resembling people and animals while listening to the riverboat captain's fascinating yarns of the area and its legends. Dinner follows at Zappone’s.
Whisk back to a time of luxurious train travel, and step aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad - a fully-restored diesel-powered vintage train with plush coaches and open-air viewing. This four-hour excursion will take us on a 20-mile journey through 100 years of history, as well as an abundance of native fauna and flora, rugged high desert rock faces and spectacular vistas, all of which is only accessible by rail. The trip includes educational narration and a great selection of entertaining classic railroad tunes. A day to remember!
We visit the Musical Instrument Museum – the world’s only global musical instrument museum. With state-of-the-art technology you can hear, see and feel the sounds of more than 6500 instruments from all over the world. Then we will enjoy some excellent western entertainment, line dancing and a western style dinner!
