Cuba is one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful, safe and comfortable destinations. This tour offers a unique opportunity to experience Cuba’s vibrant culture, colourful history, enchanting countryside, old towns, pristine beaches and friendly people.
We begin and end our tour at the beach resort town of Varadero. Known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters, Varadero is ideal for swimming and strolling on the beach. We will enjoy 2 excursions while in Vardero: a visit to the city of Cardenas, home of the famous Havana Club Rum as well as other national treasures, and the Varahicacos Ecological Reserve to admire the natural caves and a lively dolphon show.
Next is a 3-night stay in Cienfuegos on Cuba’s southern coast. Known as the "Pearl of the South", this area has Cuba’s most beautiful bay, and is a major centre for the sugar, coffee and tobacco trades. There is a well-preserved historic centre with lovely architecture in the neo-classic style. From here we enjoy excursions to Trinidad - the crown jewel of Cuba's colonial cities, and Cuba’s oldest botanical garden.
Then we proceed to the lively capital of Havana for a 5-night stay. En route we will stop in the Zapata Peninsula - a popular destination for eco-tourism and also known for its rich history. We will experience these features of Zapata as well as a performance of Cuban music and dance. In Havana we will enjoy sightseeing in both the old and modern sections, the Ernest Hemingway Museum as well as an excursion to Pinar del Rio - an area of picturesque valleys and dramatic landscapes.
*** This tour is recommended for the fit and active traveller who enjoys walking.
