Dominican Republic

All-Inclusive Holiday
The Dominican Republic is one of the Caribbean’s most geographically diverse countries, with sandy beaches, tropical forests, stunning mountain scenery, tranquil mangroves and amazing waterfalls.

However if you delve deeper you will discover romantic colonial architecture, beautifully restored monasteries, charming cobblestone streets, timeless rural villages and lively fishing ports. There is also a friendly, informal hospitality that invites relaxation and it is undoubtedly the warmth of the people here that keeps visitors returning year after year.

We will stay on the popular north coast (Costa Dorado) of the island by the beautiful golden beach of Playa Dorada - one of the most stunning beaches in the Dominican Republic.  Just ten minutes east of downtown Puerto Plata, this reef-protected beach boasts stunning, wide golden stretches that are Blue Flag certified for their water quality and user-friendly conditions.  During our stay we will enjoy an excursion to the charming seaside town of Cabarete - the kite and windsurfing capital of the Dominican Republic, a coastal tour to the secluded Gri Gri Lagoon and a tour to Haitises National Park with a scenic boat ride and stroll through a mangrove forest.  We will also visit Ocean World Park for an exciting Dolphin Encounter where you can meet these amazing mammals up close.

Our hotel is the First Class Sunscape Puerto Plata Resort.  This All-Inclusive property is perfectly situated on the beach with manicured grounds of palm trees and tropical gardens. Make yourself at home and enjoy the tranquility!  Amenities of the hotel include endless dining options: four à la carte restaurants, a buffet, a grill, two snack bars and a café. The 24-hour dining options allow guests to enjoy late night bites. The variety of bars and lounges on the resort serve unlimited international and domestic brand beverages. Our bright and spacious Deluxe Pool View guest rooms include air-conditioning, coffee / tea maker, in-room safe, minibar, and terrace or balcony.

Itinerary / Excursions

We depart for the Dominican Republic, and upon arrival transfer to our hotel on the Costa Dorado.
This morning we will have an information briefing after breakfast. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to enjoy the resort.
Called the Amber Coast because of its rich deposits of the fossilized resin, Puerto Plata is a coastal resort city at the foot of the Isabel de Torres Mountains. Our tour will include the Brugal Rum factory, the Fortaleza San Felipe, the Amber Museum, Plaza Independencia, the Town Hall and Victoria House. We will complete our tour with a scenic cable car ride and lunch before returning to the Costa Dorado.
At leisure. There is so much to do at our 5-star All-Inclusive resort. You may want to participate in one of the many offerings of the resort’s activity program.
Today we visit Ocean World Park, near the town of Puerto Plata. The park is a complete entertainment complex, elegant marina and unique adventure park, and so it is a “must-see” attraction for both locals and tourists. It is the most advanced marine interaction park of its kind and boasts the largest man-made dolphin habitat in the world. Included in our tour will be an exciting Dolphin Encounter where you will have the opportunity to interact up close and personal with these fantastic mammals. A light lunch will be included along with some free time to explore the other attractions of the park on your own time before returning to the hotel.
At leisure.
This afternoon we will depart by coach for the town of Rio San Juan for a walk in the village, followed by a visit of the tranquil Gri-Gri Lagoon, where mangroves surround us as we enjoy wonderful views of the old city. Dinner will be at a local restaurant overlooking the lagoon.
At leisure.
Today we visit a countryside school and a typical country house to see how the local farmers live off the land. We will enjoy sampling their organic products - fresh Caribbean fruit, roasted coffee and cocoa, then take a walk in the village of Cabrera and have lunch at a popular beach restaurant.
At leisure.
Today’s tour takes us north along the coast to the charming seaside town of Cabarete, founded in 1835 by Zephaniah Kingsley, along with over 50 slaves he freed from his Florida plantations and brought here while the island was under Haitian administration. Several descendants of the Kinsley’s and of the former slaves still live in the area today. Cabarete Bay is now famous for kite and wind surfing - a pleasure to watch as you enjoy strolling along the white sand beach by the sparkling waves. We will have lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure.
At leisure.
We say farewell to this friendly island and fly home.
