This sailing route takes us to some of Europe’s grand cities, lively resorts and ports of call where we can view both vibrant modern architecture and ancient wonders. 

Some of the highlights include the whitewashed buildings of Santorini, the unique medieval architecture of Montenegro, the rich culture of Sicily, lively and colourful Naples, the genius of Gaudi’s architecture in Barcelona, the opportunity to take a cable car ride in Gibraltar for sweeping views of the Rock, and Portugal’s legendary capital, Lisbon.

Tentative Itinerary

We depart on our flight for Athens.
We arrive in Athens and transfer to our ship. This evening we set sail and enjoy our first delicious dinner on board.
This spectacular island is the site of the biggest volcano eruption in history and is now known for its white-washed buildings clinging to the cliffs. Visit the ancient ruins of Akrotiri to learn more of her history and later shop in the town of Fira.
Time to relax, get acquainted with the ship and enjoy the endless array of facilities, activities and entertainment. Visit the health club for a workout, join an exercise class or perhaps wine tasting.
Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor a UNESCO listed “World Natural and Historical Heritage Site”. The St. Tryphon Cathedral built in 1166 is a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the city.
The city of Messina has played a major role in European history since its founding as a Greek colony in the 8th century B.C. See the world's largest astronomical clock that springs to life every quarter hour and a grand display at noon. Excursions will also be offered to explore Mt. Etna and Taormina.
Be on deck as we approach Naples for the breathtaking views of the city and Mount Vesuvius. Strolling here is a delight or you may want to visit nearby Pompeii - the once great city destroyed when Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. Other excursions will be offered to Sorrento and the Isle of Capri - once the vacation destination for Roman Emperors.
Gaudi and Picasso are just two of the names associated with this great Catalonian city. You may want to visit the unfinished La Sagrada Familia Cathedral - an extraordinary church building with curious spire and stalactite canopies designed by Antonio Gaudi. Other places of interest are the Olympic Stadium, Barro Gothic, or you may just want to enjoy strolling and shopping along the lively pedestrian Ramblas.
The great rock of Gibraltar, standing like a sentinel at the entrance to the Mediterranean, is home to British culture and the grotto of St. Michael’s Cave. You may want to take a cable car for a rapid ascent of the Rock affording spectacular views of Europe, Africa and the sparkling Mediterranean. The Top Station is steeped in military history and home to the acrobatic Barbary Apes.
Cadiz is one of Europe's oldest inhabited cities and the gateway to the romantic city of Seville. Visit Seville's massive Alcazar Fortress modeled on the legendary Alhambra Palace of Granada. See the city's cathedral - a 15th-century Gothic masterwork that boasts a Moorish patio, fountain and minaret.
The capital of Portugal is a legendary city with over 2000 years of history. Visit the 16th century Jeronimos Monastery (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) - an enticing mixture of Moorish and Gothic styles. See the Belem Tower which served as a prison and lighthouse, and features striking turrets and open balconies. And don’t miss the Monument to the Discoveries, which commemorates Portugal's great seafarers, and is shaped like the prow of a boat.
The beauty of the medieval city of Vigo can be seen in the narrow streets and granite houses of the Ribera del Berbes - the old fishermen’s quarter. This is the gateway to Santiago de Compostela - the most venerated shrine in all of Europe during the Middle Ages. You may wish to take an excursion and follow in the pilgrim’s footsteps.
We disembark in the morning in Southampton, England and transfer to the London airport for our flight home
