Magical Malta

Tour Highlights

Blessed with a warm, sunny climate year-round and friendly, hospitable people, the charming island of Malta has been a favourite vacation spot of our travellers for many years.
Located in the heart of the Mediterranean off the coast of Sicily, Malta has played host to a great many cultures - Roman, Greek, Arab and of course British, all leaving their mark on its historic monuments, architecture and ancient sites. There are many areas for you to explore on your own, and there is an extremely efficient and inexpensive bus system that traverses the island, which makes exploring easy and fun. There are many attractions, including the picturesque harbour, the narrow shopping streets of Sliema and colourful craft markets.

We stay at the First Class Dolmen Hotel, a seaside resort located in Qawra on the promenade overlooking the Bay of St. Paul.  The small town of Bugibba is just a few minutes walk from the hotel and offers a number of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.  Facilities of the hotel include a variety of restaurants, a lounge and bar, fitness centre with sauna, an indoor heated pool and outdoor pool surrounded by sunning terraces.

Daytime activities offered by the hotel include light aerobics, wellness walks, trivia quizzes and other games.  There is live music preformed nightly and a full-service Casino.  Guest rooms are comfortably furnished, contemporary in design and all are seaview with a balcony or terrace.  WiFi is complimentary throughout the property.

* Those joining any of our tours to Europe must be able to walk fairly long distances and climb stairs easily.

Tentative Itinerary

An orientation stroll in the area around our resort as well as the town of Bugibba.
An enjoyable cruise around the Grand Harbour with beautiful views of Valetta.
An orientation tour of the capital Valetta, which includes a viewing of The Malta Experience - a delightful movie featuring the highlights of the island. We will then visit The Upper Barracca Gardens and St. John’s Cathedral.
More sightseeing in Valetta, including a visit of the Grand Master’s Palace, the Armoury, the National Archaeological Museum and more.
A full-day tour to take in many of Malta’s major historic sites. We visit the catacombs in Rabat, the old medieval walled silent city of Mdina, and the unique Rotunda of Mosta Church. Lunch is included.
A visit to Malta’s largest and most picturesque fishing village. See the vividly painted luzzo (fishing boats) bobbing in the clear blue waters of the harbour. Very symbolic of Malta is the eye of Osiris painted on the bow of the boats to ward off evil at sea. Have a coffee by the harbour while enjoying the unhurried lifestyle of the village.
A full day tour to the island of Gozo, Malta’s sister island, which has barely changed in hundreds of years. We will see small farms, churches, a cathedral and the citadel. Lunch is included.
