Queen Mary II “Space Week” Trans-Atlantic Cruise plus 2 nights London

Queen Mary II “Space Week” Trans-Atlantic Cruise plus 2 nights London

There is no better place to stargaze than in the open Atlantic!

On this “Space Week’ themed Trans-Atlantic cruise we will experience the wonder of clear constellations and celestial sights which you could never see at home, as you can expect to see pristine star-strewn skies unspoiled by electric lights and air pollution. Distinguished scientists, space explorers and Royal Astronomical Society members will join us at specially curated shows to present and discuss all aspects of space and its exploration in the only planetarium at sea. We will learn what stars and constellations can be seen in the night sky.

We will explore the stars in the elegant comfort of Cunard’s fabled Queen Mary 2. This elaborate “City at Sea” retains the glamour of old world traditions combined with contemporary luxury and comfort. Cunard’s flagship is the most magnificent ocean liner ever built as well as the longest passenger ship in the world. The ship has elegant British styling, a rich history and a wide variety of dining and entertainment options.

Facilities of the QM2 include a state-of-the-art health spa, supervised fitness and exercise classes, indoor and outdoor pools, a library with a computer learning centre, shopping promenade with a Harrods branch, pub, several bars, night club, 3D Cinema, casino, world-class entertainers and of course the Planetarium.

Dining on the QM2 is simply wonderful. You may choose the formal splendor of the Brittania Restaurant or the relaxed atmosphere of the King’s Court Buffet. Afternoon Tea is an old QM2 tradition and room service is available on a 24-hour basis.

Before we embark our cruise we enjoy a 2-night stay in London, including a sightseeing tour and a top-rated West End show.

* All shore excursions are optional, and may be purchased in advance on the Cunard Cruises’ website, or on the ship.

We depart for Southampton and transfer to our ship. This evening we enjoy our first meal aboard and the only challenge will be deciding what to order.

Day 5: Paris, France (Le Havre)

Perhaps no other place in France holds more significance for English-speaking visitors than Normandy. The historic Allied landings on D-Day (June 6, 1944) - live on in the memories of British and Canadians alike. Nor has Le Havre forgotten the dark days of the war. The port was nearly completely destroyed during the Normandy campaign. Today, Le Havre is France's second largest port and the gateway to Paris, the Norman countryside and the historic landing beaches. You may also choose to follow in the footsteps of ancient and modern pilgrims to one of France's most recognizable landmarks, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont Saint-Michel. Perched high atop a rocky island, this medieval abbey is built in the distinctive Norman style. Explore the church and cloister and enjoy free time in the historic town before heading back to the ship.

Days 6 - 11: At Sea
