London, Paris and Amsterdam

London, Paris and Amsterdam – 3 iconic capitals! All rich with architectural grandeur, artistic heritage and world class cuisine!

In London our touring takes in the many well known landmarks: the Tower of London, Thames River, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace and more.

London Highlights:

• Westminster Abbey – home of coronations; burial place of English Monarchs and site of Royal weddings

• Cotswolds – a full day in the countryside with rolling hills, thatched medieval villages and stately homes

• Theatre show in London’s West End

In London we board the Eurostar high speed train, and speed through the “Chunnel” to Paris. Touring includes the historic districts of Montmartre and Marais and notable landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Opera House, Grand Palais, Champs-Élysées and more.

Paris Highlights:

• Visits to the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral

• An evening cruise along the River Seine

• Giverny – a visit to the countryside home and gardens of Claude Monet – leading light in Impressionist Art!

After Paris we board the Thalys high speed train, which takes us to lively Amsterdam. Here we will view the city’s elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades. The Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, and the Rijksmuseum with works by Rembrandt.

Amsterdam Highlights:

• The world’s only floating flower market

• Anne Frank House

• A hop-on hop-off canal city tour

• Dutch Culture day with visits to Edam (cheese), Zaanse Schans (windmills) and Marken (wooden shoes)

• Dinner cruise along the canals

Tentative Itinerary

Day 1: Departure

We depart with Air Canada for London.

Day 2: London

Upon arrival in London we transfer to our centrally located hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure until this evening's Welcome Dinner.

Day 3: London City Tour

We begin with a visit to Westminster Abbey for a guided tour of this impressive Gothic church, which was the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English monarchs. After our visit we continue to take in some of London’s other major highlights – Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Canadian War Memorial and more!

Day 4: Oxford and the Cotswolds

We travel first into the green countryside and visit “The Cotswolds” - an area of many small old towns and villages with honey coloured cottages and dry stone walls nestling in the valleys and wooded hillsides. We will stop at one or two of the villages to explore. Then we will visit the university town of Oxford which for over 900 years has been home to royalty and scholars. A walking tour takes us past several of the 30 colleges and their picture-perfect courtyards. If possible we will tour one of them. A pub lunch is included today.

Day 5: London at Leisure / Theatre

A day at leisure to visit, or revisit, your favourite attractions in “Everybody’s Favourite City”. This evening enjoy a show in London’s West End - your choice from 2 top performances!

Day 6: Paris via Eurostar!

Cheerio to London and Bonjour Paris, as we whiz through the Channel tunnel at 320 km/h on the high speed Eurostar train! In just over two hours we will be in central Paris. We will have some time to relax before our dinner at a charming bistro.

Day 7: Paris

Our Paris highlights tour begins with a visit of the Eiffel Tower. We will ascend the tower by elevator and take in the panoramic view of the city. We continue our tour and see the Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concord, the Opera and Notre Dame Cathedral. Then we continue to the beautiful and historic Montmartre area and visit the Sacre Coeur for wonderful views of Paris. We will have some free time to explore Place du Terte and watch the artists at work. Tonight’s dinner is at a typical Montmartre restaurant.

Day 8: Countryside Tour to Giverny and Monet’s Garden

Today we leave the city to visit Giverny, where the Impressionist artist Monet lived and created a stunning garden of symmetry and colour. Monet mixed the simplest flowers (daisies and poppies) with the rarest varieties. This is where he painted the ‘Japanese Bridge’, and the delicate ‘Water Lilies’ which have been forever immortalized in his incredible works!

Day 9: Paris at Leisure / Seine Cruise

At leisure to perhaps visit the Louvre, Versailles Palace by local train, take a full day excursion to Vimy Ridge or just stroll along the Champs-Élysées, sit at a cafe and people watch. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to advise and assist. This evening we take a cruise on the Seine to view the illuminated brilliance of “The City of Light”.

Day 10: Amsterdam via Thalys Train

Our high speed train takes us across scenic Belgium to Amsterdam in 3 hours.

Day 11: Amsterdam City Tour

The best way to explore Amsterdam is through the city’s canals and by foot, so we will have a walking tour including the “Hop-On-Hop-Off” boat tour to visit famous attractions like the floating Flower Market and Anne Frank’s House. After the guided tour your 24-hour pass will enable you to continue seeing more of this grand city.

Day 12: Cheese, Windmills and Villages

A full day of scenic landscapes featuring windmills, picturesque canals, charming villages with cobblestone streets, locals dressed in traditional costumes and tasty Dutch specialties. We will have a walking tour of Marken (with a visit to a workshop of a wooden shoemaker), a ferry ride to Volendam - a traditional Dutch fishing village, a stop to savor the flavour of Edam cheese and finish in Zaanse Schanse - known for its magnificent collection of historic windmills.

Day 13: Amsterdam at Leisure

Today you can visit the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh or Rembrandt museums to name a few! Or take the “Red Light District” tour (beyond its salacious reputation the De Wallen area has some of the city's prettiest canals and winding cobblestone streets rich with fascinating stories of the city's character). Or do like the locals and ride a bike to explore the city! Our evening is complete with our Farewell Canal Dinner Cruise!

Day 14: Home

We fly home with Air Canada.
