This enchanting holiday begins in Switzerland, with 2 night stays in both Zurich and Lucerne, where we will enjoy included lake-side excursions and Alpine vistas.

After our Alpine experience we board our Deluxe riverboat for a leisurely 7-night cruise through Switzerland, France, Germany and Holland. Our cruise takes us to the Alsatian capital of Strasbourg, the legendary Black Forest region, Cologne with its majestic Cathedral, the historic university town of Heidelberg and Amsterdam with its legendary canals. 

Our riverboat, the Deluxe AmaPrima is an intimate ship specially built for cruising European rivers. Aboard you may relax in one of the bars or lounges or on the sun deck with its comfortable deck chairs. There is a beauty salon, gift shop, fitness centre, pool, walking track and massage room. 

You will enjoy superb dining throughout the cruise with special theme dinners. As a bonus, quality wines from Europe’s most famous wine regions are included with every lunch and dinner. The nightly entertainment features folkloric and musical performances and informative lectures on our destinations.  Another special feature of this program is that the ship offers “English only” in a smoke-free environment.

Many shore excursions are included and expertly conducted by English speaking guides.

Your cabin will have twin beds, private bathroom, hairdryer, safe, phone, radio, satellite TV, in-house video channels and climate control. There is a choice of cabins, and all have either a window, a French Balcony or Twin Balconies (French Balcony plus a full Outside Balcony).

Tentative Itinerary

We depart for Zurich.
We arrive in Zurich and transfer to our hotel. Spend your day exploring this beautiful town. Tonight is our Welcome Dinner.
Our city tour of picturesque Zurich will include Grossmunster Abbey, which offers exceptional views of Zurich, St. Peter with the world’s largest church clock face, Old Town, Town Hall and Fraumunster Abbey. The afternoon is at leisure.
Today enjoy a scenic drive past three lakes before reaching Viztnau. Upon arrival we enjoy a cruise across the tranquil waters of Lake Lucerne, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. After our cruise we check in to our hotel in central Lucerne.
We enjoy a walking tour of this medieval gem. See the city’s lovely cobblestone streets, public squares, monuments, fountains, covered bridges and frescoed buildings. Afternoon at leisure to shop for watches, knives and delicious Swiss chocolate.
This morning we visit the Lion Monument, then we depart for Basel for a walking tour of the city. Long an important center for banking and commerce, Basel’s glorious past is still evident in its medieval Town Hall and 18th century homes. Later we will embark on our luxurious river cruise ship.
You have two exciting excursions to choose from today. The first is a walking tour of Riquewihr - a picturesque town unchanged since the 16th century. A second option is to visit Freiburg’s Gothic cathedral. It was founded in 1120 and is said to have “the most beautiful spire on earth.”
Our city tour here will take us by the Orangery, the European Parliament and the Place de la Republique. Later we enjoy a walking tour of the lovely “La Petit France” neighbourhood with its Gothic Cathedral and famous astronomical clock.
You’ll have a choice of two exciting excursions today. The first is a visit to Heidelberg - a perfectly preserved medieval city nestled in the Neckar River Valley. Discover the iconic red sandstone Heidelberg Castle, and the Great Vat - an 18th century 49,000 gallon wine cask. A second option would be to visit Speyer, known for the largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Later we set sail for Rudesheim. Upon arrival we will have the opportunity to visit the famous Seigfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum.
We spend the morning in Rudesheim. Later our ship sails to the enchanting UNESCO designated Rhine Gorge, with its castles, fortress ruins and the legendary Lorelei Rock. When we reach Lahnstein, we will enjoy a visit of Lahneck Castle.
Today in Cologne, you can enjoy a guided tour through the Old Town and explore the majestic 13th century Gothic Cathedral. Or maybe visit a local tavern to taste Kolsch beer and Reibekuchen - potato pancakes served with apple sauce.
Amsterdam boasts amazing history, art, architecture and museums. There will be a few tours offered. Enjoy a guided city tour beginning with a scenic canal cruise, followed by a walk to Begijnof, known for its Middle Age buildings. Another option is joining the Jewish Heritage tour beginning with a visit to the 17th century Portuguese Synagogue and the Jewish Historical Museum chronicling the history of the Jews in Amsterdam.
We disembark our ship and transfer to the airport for our flight back to Canada.
