West Coast Rail and Sea

Tour Highlights

  • Rocky Mountaineer Rail Tour
  • 3 Night Princess Cruise
  • Stays in Los Angeles, Vancouver and Banff
On this tour we experience the Rocky Mountains, the beauty of British Columbia, two of North America’s favourite cities and a relaxing time at sea - quite a wide range of experiences! We begin with a 2-night stay in Los Angeles. The city of Hollywood glamour is always fun to visit. In L.A. we will enjoy a city tour and a visit to the Getty Museum.

Then we board our ship for a 3-night cruise up the west coast. Our ship, the Star Princess, is a luxurious floating resort with the Princess Line’s standard of facilities, activities, entertainment, cabin amenities and meal service.

We disembark in Vancouver (undeniably Canada's most beautiful city). In Vancouver we will enjoy a morning city tour and an afternoon at leisure to explore on your own.

Then we board the Rocky Mountaineer - one of the world's most spectacular rail trips - for a 2-day journey. The train follows the path of the early explorers as it meanders over trestle bridges, follows rivers, passes waterfalls and everywhere, of course, the glacier-clad mountains. Your train attendant will entertain you with interesting commentary and ensure your comfort. There are two types of service aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. Silver Leaf Service includes hot breakfast and luncheon selections served at your seat. You will enjoy the spectacular scenery through the oversized panoramic windows. Gold Leaf Service includes gourmet hot breakfasts and lunches served in the exclusive Gold Leaf Dining Room, and unparalleled panoramic views through the full-length dome windows. Note - Gold Leaf passengers will be separated from the main group during the journey.

The train trip ends in Banff - heart of the Canadian Rockies, for a 3-night stay. Touring highlights here include Lake Louise, the amazing Columbia Icefields and the Banff Gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for the view of a lifetime.

Tentative Itinerary

We depart for Los Angeles. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel (perfectly located in Downtown L.A. near many shops and restaurants).
We begin with a tour of downtown L.A. before continuing to Santa Monica on the coast for a stroll along the Santa Monica Pier. Built in 1912, it is the oldest pleasure pier on the West Coast, and the set for many Hollywood movie scenes. In the afternoon we visit the lively Farmers Market, and then end the day in Hollywood where we’ll stop to see the Walk of Fame outside TCL Chinese Theatre.
Today we visit the famous Getty Center, an architectural landmark with breathtaking views, tranquil gardens and a world renowned art collection. After our visit we transfer to the port and board our deluxe cruise ship, the Coral Princess. This evening is our first delicious dinner onboard.
Two days at sea to enjoy the endless array of facilities, activities and entertainment onboard our ship.
Our ship arrives in Vancouver and we disembark for a city tour. Highlights include Chinatown, Gastown, Stanley Park and Granville Island. Afternoon at leisure to explore this beautiful city on your own.
A spectacular drive on the “Sea to Sky Highway” takes us to beautiful Shannon Falls (for a photo stop) and then to Whistler. This quaint alpine village is North America’s most popular mountain resort. Lunch is included at the village. There will be free time to enjoy the fresh mountain air while strolling in the village with its quaint shops, before returning to Vancouver.
We board the Rocky Mountaineer and begin our journey aboard "The Most Spectacular Train Trip in the World." We will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley and marvel at the natural beauty of the Fraser Canyon. One of the canyon's highlights is Hell's Gate, where millions of gallons of water per minute rush through the narrowest point of the canyon. Then, following the Thompson River, we cross into Canada's semi-arid desert and arrive in Kamloops for dinner and an overnight stay.
We re-board our train and follow the Kicking Horse Route to Banff. As the train crosses the Continental Divide we pass through the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park, a remarkable engineering achievement. You will be thrilled by the stunning glaciers, numerous tunnels and snow-capped mountains of Rogers Pass. Another highlight is historic Craigellachie where the "last spike" was driven to complete the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. Once we arrive in Banff, we transfer to our hotel.
We begin the day with a visit to Lake Louise. With its emerald waters set against the backdrop of Victoria Glacier, Lake Louise is one of the most photographed scenes in the Canadian Rockies. We then travel up the incredible Icefields Parkway and stop at the Columbia Icefields, one of the largest icefields south of the Arctic Circle, and the most accessible in North America. We will ride aboard a unique “Snocoach” up the Athabasca Glacier to the Icefield, before returning to Banff for our overnight.
Our morning tour will include Bow Lake and Tunnel Mountain Drive. The highlight will be a spectacular gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for the view of a lifetime. Afternoon at leisure to stroll the quaint streets and shops in the lovely mountain resort town of Banff. This evening is our Farewell Dinner.
We transfer to the Calgary Airport for our flight home.
