Our tour begins in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, which boasts the largest concentration of Spanish colonial architecture in South America, and its location high in the Andes gives it one of the most beautiful natural settings of any capital city in the world. Here we will see the wonderful baroque churches, monasteries and museums. The "Casco Colonial" is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
From Quito we travel to the the province of Imbabura in the Highlands - known as the "land of lakes". Our sightseeing will take in the incredible natural scenery, picturesque villages, indigenous people and the world famous handicraft market of Otavalo.
From the Highlands we travel to the jungle of the Ecuadorian Amazon, one of the richest natural eco-systems in the world. We will be comfortably housed in a jungle lodge located on 200 acres of primary rainforest along one of the Amazon’s tributaries. There are thousands of species of birds, butterflies, amphibians, mammals and an endless variety of flora in the jungle.
After our fascinating stay in the jungle we will travel to the beautiful colonial city of Cuenca, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site and birthplace of the Panama Hat. Cuenca’s cobblestone streets, winding rivers, graceful ironwork balconies and beautiful gardens are part of the pleasant atmosphere of this historical city.
