On this delightful cruise we will sail from Vienna (Austria) through seven Old World countries, ending in Bucharest (Romania). The itinerary will immerse us in the thousand-year-old history and culture of this fascinating region, home to the once mighty Hapsburg Empire. Featured stops include Bratislava (Slovakia), Budapest (Hungary), Vukovar (Croatia), Novi Sad and Belgrade (Serbia) and Vidin (Bulgaria). In addition to all of our included excursions with English-speaking guides at these ports-of-call, we will also enjoy lectures on Balkan history and the Modern Balkans, including the Communist period when most of these countries were behind the “Iron Curtain”.
Our riverboat, the First Class MS Vivienne is an intimate ship specially built for cruising European rivers.
While aboard you may relax in the panorama lounge, jacuzzi, exercise room or the Sun Deck.
Dinners will include coffee and tea, regional wines, beer and soft drinks. Afternoon tea and late night snacks are offered as well. The nightly entertainment features folkloric and musical performances.
All the cabins are “outside” with either 2 small windows, a panoramic window or French Balcony.
* Those joining any of our tours to Europe must be able to walk fairly long distances and climb stairs easily.
