Long considered one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines, Amalfi is a series of bays, beaches, villages and towns, with a dramatic backdrop of rugged cliffs.
The road hugging the cliffs affords one of the most spectacular drives in Europe. Everywhere are orange, lemon, and olive groves, vineyards, lush greenery and flowering shrubs—all near the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea. On this tour we will take in all the most beloved sights in the region and reward our taste buds with samples of the local specialties including extra-virgin olive oil, mozzarella cheese and Limoncello, the local liqueur. We will even have the opportunity to make our own “Neapolitan” pizza!
We will stay 12 nights in Sorrento. Perched high on the cliffs with stunning views over the Bay of Naples to the distant Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento is considered the most picturesque town on the Bay of Naples and features a host of restaurants, cafés, shops, and a local market. Other small towns and villages along the coast are easily accessible by local transport.
We will stay at the Grand Hotel Cesare Augusto (or similar) in
Sorrento, located in the heart of the city, a few steps from the main square Piazza Tasso. The rooms feature a double bed, a balcony with partial or full sea view of the Gulf of Naples, satellite TV, minibar, safe, and free Wi-Fi.
After our stay in Sorrento we will proceed to Rome for our final overnight (near the airport) with a tour of the lively city of Naples en route.
* Those joining any of our tours to Europe must be able to walk fairly long distances and climb stairs easily.
