We depart from the Toronto and Burlington areas by coach and travel to Sault Ste. Marie for a 2-night stay.

Early this morning we board the legendary Algoma Railway for the journey through the scenic vistas of the Agawa Canyon where we will enjoy Mother Nature’s spectacular fall foliage display. Lunch will be served on board the train.

We depart the Sault and head into Michigan where we will board the hydroplane ferry for a speedy trip to Mackinac Island on Lake Huron. Time slows down to a leisurely pace on this genteel island. As there are no cars allowed, we will enjoy a narrated carriage ride of this historic isle with its many legends. We will enjoy a fabulous luncheon buffet at the Grand Hotel, take some time to browse in the shops and maybe treat ourselves to some of that famous Mackinac fudge!

We leave Mackinac Island and head for Frankenmuth where we spend 2 nights. Frankenmuth was settled in the 1840’s by Franks— emigrants from Franconia in Bavaria (the town’s name means “courage of the Franks”).

Today we will discover the many attractions of Frankenmuth— including Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland and the Glockenspiel Tower. We will also enjoy wine tasting at a local restaurant. Almost like visiting a corner of Germany in the US!

We depart for Dearborn, Michigan where we will visit the Henry Ford Museum, founded in 1929 by Ford himself. The exhibits here are truly one-of-a-kind, tracing back over 150 years and highlighting the changes that America has experienced. After the museum visit we’ll experience the awe-inspiring scale of a real factory floor and get an inside look at the making of America’s most iconic truck, the Ford F-150. In the early afternoon we cross the border back into Canada, with a stop at the Duty-Free Shop, and check in to our hotel in Windsor. This evening we enjoy our Farewell Dinner, and then visit the Windsor Casino, with an opportunity for you to challenge the slot machines or blackjack dealers.

We say farewell to our fellow travellers as we return to the Toronto and Burlington areas to end our tour.
