Spain’s Canary Islands—located off the northwest coast of Africa—have long been a popular holiday destination with Europeans, thanks to their year round warm, sunny climate and lovely beaches.
Each island has its own personality and geography, resulting in extremely varied landscapes of dramatic volcanoes, broad beaches, lush pine forests, prehistoric sites, lunar-like landscapes, and Sahara-style sand dunes.
The local “Canarios” are a blend of Spanish and South American heritage with a touch of African influence.
We will stay on Tenerife, the largest island, which features a well-developed tourism infrastructure, sandy beaches, cosmopolitan cities, historic towns, small villages, a huge expanse of National Park, and the highest mountain in all of Spain—the towering Mount Teide.
