With a blend of cultures and an enviably mild climate, the Channel Islands have long been a vacation favourite with both British and French.
Although they lie just 14 miles off the French coast, the islands are British, and have been connected to the British Crown for over a thousand years. These self-governing islands maintain their own individual culture.
The food and wine may be French, but the customs and manners are definitely English. We will stay on Jersey, the largest of the islands. It is known for its glorious woodland walks, lovely rolling countryside, unspoiled coastline with imposing cliffs, historic castles and Victorian markets. The capital, St. Helier, is built around a harbour, and the town itself is a maze of narrow streets, many of which are closed to traffic. As a bonus, St. Helier is situated on one of Jersey's best beaches.
We will stay at the First Class Merton Hotel. Located just a 10-minute walk from St. Helier, the hotel is known for its high level of hospitality. Facilities include 6 restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, an Aquadome, fitness room, and evening entertainment. The modern guestrooms have satellite TV, tea and coffee makers, and free WiFi.
