We fly to Bucharest, Romania.

After transfer to our centrally located hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure.

On our city tour of Romania’s capital (the “Paris of the East”), we will see grand boulevards, the Triumphal Arch, Romanian Athenaeum and the former Royal Palace. We’ll explore the historic centre on foot and visit one of the city’s oldest Orthodox churches. In the afternoon, we drive to Fetesti to board our ship, enjoy a welcome cocktail and gather for our Welcome Dinner.

Open your eyes, you’re in paradise! Explore the rich history and culture of Hârşova on your own, or take an optional excursion and discover the beautiful Danube Delta, one of the largest wetland biotopes in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a rich variety of flora and fauna. This evening, enjoy a special folklore program on board.

Hirsova is the gateway to 2,500-year-old Constanţa, the oldest continually inhabited city in Romania. A guided tour will take us to the Great Mosque, the Casino, the Genovese Lighthouse, and the fascinating History and Archaeology Museum.

We drive to the museum village of Arbanassi, home to painted churches, an excellent artists’ market, and unique houses that look like tiny fortresses. We will see Konstantsalieva, the centuries- old wealthy district, and visit Nativity Church to admire early frescoes. Then we’ll proceed to Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria’s medieval capital, to see the Tsarevets Fortress and learn the history of Bulgarian kings. We dock in Nikopol.

Today we pass through the highest gorge on the Danube. Over 100 km long, this canyon was historically very hard to navigate due to jagged rocks, cliffs, and changing water levels. A dam built in the 1970s has enabled safe passage for ships all the way to the Black Sea.

We’ll visit the Kalemegdan Fortress, take in the panoramic view over the Danube and Sava Rivers, and see the National Museum, the Parliament, Terazije Square, Palace of Princess Ljubica, and St. Sava Cathedral, the world’s largest Orthodox Church.

Enjoy free time to explore Mohács rich history, including the site of the 1526 Battle of Mohacs, pivotal in Hungary’s history. Wander through the outstanding workshops of potters and mask carvers, or book an optional excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Puszta, in eastern Hungary.

On our tour of Hungary’s beautiful capital, we will see the splendid Hungarian State Opera, stop in Heroes’ Square, and go up to Castle Hill to visit St. Matthew’s Church and the famous Fisherman’s Bastion.

Our city tour will take us to St. Martin’s Cathedral and the Grassalkovich Palace. As we stroll through the historic city center, we’ll admire numerous palaces, the city’s oldest university, the Opera House, and Maximilian Fountain.

After leaving the ship, we spend the morning on a tour of the imperial capital of Vienna. We’ll feast our eyes on magnificent state buildings, the Imperial Palace and Schonbrunn Palace, summer home of the Imperial family and a superb example of Austrian Baroque architecture.

A day at leisure to explore Vienna on your own. Your Tour Manager will be happy to offer suggestions. This evening is our Farewell Dinner.

We transfer to the airport for our flight home.
