We fly to Liberia, Costa Rica and cross the border to get to our hotel in San Juan del Sur Beach, Nicaragua.

A day at leisure to relax by the hotel pool or explore the beautiful bay of San Juan del Sur. In the evening, we’ll witness a beautiful sunset over the Jesus Christ of Mercy Statue.

Today we take a picturesque drive to the beautiful colonial city of León, where we’ll enjoy lunch and visit the city’s stunning cathedral.

This morning we head to Chichigalpa, the small town where world-famous Flor de Caña rum is made. While there, we will have a tasting and learn how they make this award-winning spirit.

This morning we’re free to explore lovely León before embarking on a boat tour through the mangroves. We will glide through breathtaking waterways teeming with flora and fauna – and maybe even spot crocodiles! Dinner will be on pretty Las Peñitas Beach as we watch the sunset.

Today we’re off to Estelí, a city famous for its tobacco production and cigar manufacturing. The afternoon is free to explore on your own.

We will visit a local tobacco factory to learn all about the growing and production processes.

We visit Don Alberto Gutiérrez, the famous “hermit sculptor” of Nicaragua, who spends his days shaping stones and enjoying a quiet life in nature. The 80-year-old artist has hand carved more than 3,000 figures in the stones that line his farm. After living in solitude for most of his life, he now welcomes visitors and is happy to talk about his work.

It’s time to leave northern Nicaragua and head to the Pacific coast, where we will stay in the beautiful colonial city of Granada. Afternoon at leisure.

Today we tour the pastel streets, cathedrals and markets of the oldest city on the mainland. Then it’s a boat tour of Las Isletas, a beautiful volcanic archipelago on Lake Nicaragua, to see incredible flora and fauna and experience a one-of-a-kind sunset.

San Juan de Oriente is known for incredible pottery: on our tour, we will take a workshop and learn the secrets of this ancient Indigenous art form. Next up is the relaxing Apoyo Lagoon, where we will bathe in the mystical anti-aging waters of an ancient volcano.

Morning at leisure. In the afternoon, we will visit Nicaragua’s most active volcano, where you can stand on the rim and see steam rising from the vents. After the sun sets, we’ll watch the light show as the lava lake bubbles in the active crater.

Today, we’re off to San Jorge in Lake Nicaragua, where we’ll take a ferry to beautiful Ometepe Island for an overnight stay. On the way, we will stop at Punta Jesús María, a beautiful lookout over Lake Nicaragua.

Today we’re free to explore on our own, with optional kayak tours available in the afternoon.

After breakfast, we head to the magical oasis of Ojo de Agua, a volcano-fed natural spring, where you can swim in the crystal-clear, mineral-rich waters.

After breakfast, we depart Nicaragua, crossing the border to Liberia, Costa Rica to fly home.
