Tour Highlights

  • Victoria Sightseeing Tour: Our guided tour of Victoria’s highlights includes Finnerty Gardens on University of Victoria’s beautiful campus. Finnerty has over 4,000 trees and shrubs, including 1,500 rhododendron and azalea plants, with artistically displayed ferns, vines, groundcovers and ornamentals.
  • Nature Walk: We will hear a fascinating talk about the wildlife and ecosystems along BC’s southern coast before embarking on a nature walk to Beacon Hill Park with a local naturalist.
  • Craigdarroch Castle: We take a tour of this historic Victorian mansion known for its ornate architecture and lavish interior. Built in the late 19th century by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir, the castle offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the era and is now a museum and a designated National Historic Site.
  • French History Walking Tour: Did you know Victoria has a rich French history that dates back to the 1800s? French-Canadian voyageurs navigated the area’s rugged terrain and waterways, establishing trading posts—including Fort Victoria in 1843—and the influence of French culture contributes to the multicultural fabric of the city to this day. Our guided walking tour will take us through Victoria’s downtown area, with a focus on its French history.
  • Hatley Castle Gardens: We visit picturesque Royal Roads University, part of Hatley Park National Historic Site and home of the famous Hatley Castle Gardens. The gardens, which include formal Japanese, Italian, walled and rose gardens, are set in a classic Edwardian park design. Pub lunch is included.
  • Abkhazi Gardens & Four Seasons Garden: This exquisite heritage home and garden is the former residence of Prince and Princess Abkhazi of the Republic of Georgia, who settled in Victoria. Known for its exquisite design, it is home to rare plants, dramatic rock formations, and stunning views, making it both a peaceful retreat and a living work of art. Afternoon tea in the home’s living room is included. After tea, we head to a heritage neighbourhood near the ocean to visit 3 private gardens with diverse gardening styles: an exquisite restored heritage garden with greenhouse; a perennial border featuring old roses (including one from 1909); and a small urban farm where permaculture is the theme. Several of the owners will be on hand to provide commentary. Then we continue on to the award winning Four Season Garden, voted Canada’s #1 Residential Garden by Canadian Gardening. Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
  • Inner Harbour Walking Tour: An entertaining local guide will take us along Victoria’s lovely Inner Harbour to see the bustling waterfront, adorable yellow water taxis and wonderful views of BC’s Parliament Buildings and the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel.
  • Horticulture Talk: Join in on an informative talk with a professor of horticulture to learn about the types of plants that grow in Canadian gardens from coast to coast. From trees to annuals, you’ll learn about the common plants that tie all Canadians together!
  • Government House & Ross Bay Villa: Today we tour the gardens at Government House, the official residence of BC’s Lieutenant Governor. These expansive gardens feature a variety of themed areas, including a formal rose garden, a charming Victorian-style garden, and natural woodlands. Then we visit Ross Bay Villa Historic House, with afternoon tea included.
  • Butchart Gardens: Today’s visit is the highlight of the tour: the world-famous Butchart Gardens, a 50-acre garden-lover’s dream. Lunch at the Gardens is included. Later we visit the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific, 9 spectacular acres with over 10,000 varieties of plants and Canada’s largest outdoor bonsai garden.
  • Emily Carr Walking Tour: We enjoy a themed walking tour through the famed painter’s Victoria neighbourhood.
